Welcome to Bellefleurs

A sanctuary for the elegant and refined

What and who are we?

Sakura Bellefleurs is a sanctuary for those that enjoy elegance, class and refinement.

Our concept is based upon an amalgamation of the Firefly Companion Guild concept, the Venetian cortigiani oneste and the Parisian demi-monde and the salons of the 19th century, independent and educated women (for their time) of uncommon intelligence, wit and discretion.

We offer Second Life social events emphasizing all of these qualities, in addition to fun!   Whether it is the Thursday dance in the Grand Balroom on Thursday evenings, the classical music salons on Sunday evenings or the live music of Toxie Darkmatter every other Tuesday, we look to have fun in a peaceful, drama-free environment.  At every event, conversation and discussion are actively encouraged.

We are open and welcoming to all residents of Second Life, and want to reach out especially to those in the Steamlands sims, with whom we share a common ethos and many bonds.

Our History

The House Sakura Guild has been associated with the Duchess of the Canning family for centuries; it is believed that a manuscript page from 1411 mentioning a “refuge sacred and untouched” with “manye and divyrse extraordinarie yonge wommen.” was the first mention of Bellefleurs, the ancestral home of House Sakura.

The current Duchess shares with her predecessors an odd affinity for the concept of time, and in some way has expanded her coterie of extraordinary young women not only from across distances but also across time.    These women could be from any time period – past, present or future – and any culture.  Each of them came to understand the House concept and brought her own styles, her own culture, and her own fashions, to be shared with the other companions; although the Duchess did emphasize that she wanted them all to learn the culture (and fashions!) of the current time of the House (whatever that is at the time!).  These ‘Arrived’ courtesans, along with those attracted to the House from the current timeline, meshed to form the style, elegance and grace the guild is now known for.

It is interesting to note that each of the women had met, at some point, the respective Canning Duchess from her own time and they all remarked how eerily similar each one of them was.

Meanwhile, House Sakura Guild has developed, inspired by the Duchess and the varied experiences of both the Arrived and current time courtesans (often known as 'Blossoms').  Some of the various guidelines:
•    A Blossom is allowed to choose her own clients;
•    A Blossom may refuse service to a client for any reason, at any time; even if service was previously agreed upon. If services have been paid then the payment must be returned;
•    It is not unusual for a Blossom to choose same sex clients as well as opposite;
•    A client who behaves badly enough can receive a "black mark in the Blossom registry, after which no other Blossom will contract with them; and
•    Anything shared with a Blossom is privileged information. A Blossom may not be asked to divulge any information shared while with a client, though she may share information with the Guild and her Guild sisters..
